It was a lovely day today and time for me to move my Series 3 E-type over to my new garage in Eastbourne. I have installed a dehumidifier and the garage is dry and big... a perfect new home for my car!
I cycled over to Stonescross and left my bicycle in the garage as Georgie wasn't able to drive me over there on account of her arm being in a cast! (long story but she fell off our garden wall two days before we went on our Yorkshire motorcycle holiday for two weeks, convinced it wasn't broken despite the pain! Only on our return did she have it checked out in Hospital and was told that it was broken!)
I didn't want to just drive home so I took a more sceenic detour through Milton Street and Exceat which was very pleasant.
The car is now tucked up in bed and may not venture out until next year!

I needed to return the car to my brother’s garage as the electrician who is going to upgrade the electrics in my new garage wanted the car moved. So we drove up in convoy and left Georgie’s Mini and went for a run in the Jag.
We have just joined English Heritage so thought that we would use our membership to visit Battle Abbey so today was more of a day out than a drive out. We parked in the Hight Street and no sooner had we left the car when spots of rain fell so I rushed back to put the hood up. As soon as I got there the sun came out so I took a chance and left it down, which fortunately turned out to be a good call.
The castle audio tour was very interesting, albeit that I have done it several times over the years, and I took lots of photos some of which you can see here. Occasionally I do a ‘challenge’ shot so why don’t you see if you can find where I took the photo of the Gargoyle (well it’s not strictly a gargoyle as it doesn’t convey water from a roof) but it is grotesque! The clue would be that “it would help to be a Novice”.
As I stood on the castle battlements looking down the High Street I saw a couple of people admiring my car, and when we returned to it to go home we were accosted by a husband and wife who owned a Lotus but loved my E-type. I must admit that the car is looking good and driving beautifully.
On the way home a car in the opposite lane pulled out to overtake a string of cars and was headed straight at me. I could see that he had nowhere to go so I had to slam on the breaks and almost stop in order to avoid a head on!

I haven't recorded this journey becuase I simply ran the car down to my new garage which is where it will be living permanently.

Georgie and I have been trying to find a nice day to take this car for a spin and finally we found one.
I haven’t started this car since November last year as the problem with owning two E-type Jaguars is that you can only drive one at a time, and sadly my new series one has taken priority. To be honest I expect to have a lot of problems starting this car, even though I have kept the battery on trickle charge.
I got into the car, pulled the choke out and twisted the key. Blow me, after just a few seconds she burst into life. What a relief, particularly for my brother as I had promised to remove the car from his garage and put it in my new Eastbourne garage that I recently bought.
We set off up north with no particular place to go, but I wanted to give the car a decent run and enjoy some nice roads, so I just followed my nose! We found a place called Perryhill Farmshop and tea rooms and immediately took the opportunity to indulge ourselves!
On the way back we decided to drop in and see our friends John and Angie near Blackboys and as you can see by the photo they have a gorgeous place in the country.
We ended up doing the best part of 100 miles and had a thoroughly good time. The car was faultless and very comfortable to drive
